A life coach has to be certified to be able to coach someone, but a therapist has to have a
degree and follow state board codes. If a person is having severe mood swings, thoughts of
hurting themselves or someone else, feelings of loneliness or severe sadness, it is best to
consult with a therapist and not a life coach.
