Attitude vs Gratitude

You know how you can picture something in your head, but your perception make your attitude change completely? That gift your boo bought didn’t seem expensive enough, your food didn’t come quick enough, the surprise party your friends threw you wasn’t big enough, your house isn’t big enough, your car isn’t new enough, the list can go on! Take a moment and look at things this way. Your boo thought enough of you to buy you something. Your food was a little late because there was only one person working five tables. Your friends worked around their schedules just to make sure things fell into place for your party. There is nothing wrong with wanting a bigger house, but what is wrong with the one you have currently? Is your family growing? Did you get married? There is nothing wrong with wanting a newer car but (here we go again) what is wrong with your current one? Are you consistently making repairs on it? Have you driven it so much it is not as reliable as it used to be? That my friends is how you change attitude to gratitude. Sometimes we get so caught up in our achievements and expectations, we do not take the time to be grateful. We are constantly seeking more and letting our expectations dictate how we react to certain situations. Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with overachieving, having high standards, or wanting to upgrade in life. As the old saying goes, “it’s not what you do, it’s how you do it.” Are you just frustrated because you think you deserve more? Or have you stayed humble and you are ready to move to a new level in your life? -Lori G. Clark
